| The crimp observer ACO 03
was designed for the monitoring and analysing of crimp processes. It can be used for the
verification and optimisation of crimp processes well as for monitoring, control and
protocols of production processes. The ACO measures the force generated by the crimp and
regulates the quality of the crimp as good or not based on a specified tolerance range. A
bad crimp is indicated to the operator by both an acoustic and visual signal. In addition,
locking of the crimp press is optional. An SPS interface guarantees the coupling of the
ACO with automatic crimp devices. After the fabrication of a pre-set lot size a printer
protocol containing different statistical parameter can be generated. The stored measuring
data of a series can be printed via serial interface as statistical measurement protocol.
The force process data delivered by the measuring device can be transmitted to a PC via
serial interface and a graphic figure can be generated within the features of a software
packet as a real-time representation. Additionally the tolerance range can be displayed,
and an impressive visual monitoring of the crimp process is possible. The PC software
contains several statistical and conversion functions in addition to filing features. The
memory is battery-buffered; stored data will thus be retained. Detection of the following errors:

The Crimp Pull-out-Force
Measuring Units ACAM and ECAM provide comfortable acquisition of
extraction data of crimp connections in Newton, pound or Kilopound. The devices of the
ACAM series are manually controlled and optional ranges of 0...200N and 0...500N are
offered. The motor-driven ECAM series offer ranges between 0...200N, 0...500N and
0...1000N, respectively and guarantees constant speed during extraction. Operation is
handled via 6-digit display and 3 LED keys at the ACAM and 5 keys at the ECAM,
respectively. Different contact holding devices ensure the analysis of different crimps
based on diverse features. Included are destructive extraction tests (analysis of the
maximum force) and non-destructive tests (holding at given load). Any force value can be
stored or printed immediately after the measurement. Every device is equipped with a real
time clock. In addition, speed can be preselected in the case of the ECAM series. Stored
data can be transmitted to a personal computer or via network. A program provides the
generation of lists of the measuring values as a spreadsheet and their statistical
validation in different graphical modes. The computer can transmit pre-set values from
contact tables to the device. For securing the data directly entered into the device a
key-operated switch can be provided. The devices may be directly connected to a printer of
the AMD80 series to offer the possibility for enclosing the appropriate listing with every
lot. The Crimp Height Measuring Units ACHO 03 and the Crimp Width Measuring Units ACBO provide comfortable acquisition, storing and evaluation of data on height and width of crimp connections. These test values are decisive features of quality monitoring and quality assurance during the fabrication of crimp connections and complement tests like extraction force measuring, crimp force tests and resistance measuring. The measuring units consist of a controller, a dial gauge or an external screw-type micrometer and the appropriate stand. The controller takes the data from the electronic gauge via serial interface, stares the values and analyses them (GO-NOT-GO testing etc.). The values of 48 different crimp contacts can be stored. With the measuring unit being interlinked to a personal computer the stored data can be transmitted and connected to other measuring data of the appropriate crimp (e.g. crimp force).
